Heather Dawn is the Executive Vice President of ICON Science Fiction, Inc. and Vice Chair and co-founder of LI-CON, a young convention held annually on Long Island. She studied Anthropology under Dr. John Shea, Dr. Elizabeth Stone, and Dr. David Hicks at Stony Brook University; minored in Art History and Medieval Studies. Her studies focused on world religions (past and present) and ancient arts & culture. She likes old creepy things, the smell of musty books with peeling leather covers, monumental architecture, Edward Gorey, vampires, and tentacles. She’s had a penchant for all things spooky since before she was 8 and can thank her parents for raising her on a steady dose of Rocky Horror, The Twilight Zone, and black and white sci-fi films from the 1950's/60's. She became obsessed with ancient Egypt in the 3rd grade and found horror literature in the library of her elementary school. By the age of 10 she had found the darkness and never turned back... Heather moonlights as the vigilante personification of Voltaire’s Candy Claws, (also the Pony of Doom, and leads his VSC army as First Officer/The Black Unicorn) spreading candy and cheer to good little boys and girls. She enjoys teaching and sharing her infinite (and often bizarre) knowledge. Heather doesn't believe in "growing up", but if she does she would like to be a magical Liopleurodon.

Movie Screenings at LI-CON

Join us Saturday in Salon E for a special viewing of Winter Slides from 2:00-4:00pm. There will be a director Q&A afterwards!  Come down and meet the cast and crew.

“Winter Slides” is an offbeat supernatural dramedy that tells the story of Mary, a 27 year old lonesome woman who inherits her old childhood home after her estranged father dies. But upon arriving at the house she soon discovers that she has inherited it with 2 other half sisters she never knew existed. And then, to make matters worse, her father comes back from the dead.  http://winterslides.com/

Also on Saturday in Salon E, there will be a special viewing of Found in Time from 4:00-6:00pm followed by a director Q&A.

Chris is a psychic who lives his life out of order – experiencing past, present and future as a jigsaw puzzle. But when he commits a murder in the future, he has to change his past and present in order to prevent it from happening.  http://www.foundintimefilm.com/

And on Sunday in Salon E, Oh, Inverted World will be shown from 12:00-2:00pm, followed by a director Q&A.

“Oh, Inverted World” is a film about your mid-twenties…and the moon falling into the earth. Misanthropic Mina and her best guy friends, The Bearded Three, have just arrived back in their small hometown after graduating college. They quickly realize that the post-college life is unfulfilling, lonely, and quite confusing, as they find themselves with no direction at all. And then, things get even more confusing when a strange woman named Selene comes into their lives and gives them a grave prophecy: the Moon is going to fall into the Earth. Originally released as a thirteen part web series, “Oh, Inverted World” is a black and white, indie, sci fi dramedy called by The New York Times “a mumblecore ‘Night of The Living Dead’” and an amusing “allegory of 20-something angst and aimlessness” and was shot entirely on Long Island, NY.  http://www.ohinvertedseries.com/
