On March 11, the Book Club will be discussing the latest work by China’s most popular science fiction writer, Liu Cixin. Something most of us Americans probably haven’t read: an alien invasion story in which we Americans … are at most secondary, and it’s up to heroic Chinese people to save the day.
Come join us, and help us pick the next book to talk about.
I’m pleased to announce that David Mack will be joining us in Ronkonkoma this August. David is the author of over 25 novels, including both media tie-in novels like the Star Trek Vanguard series that he co-created, and original novels like his thriller The Calling. His best-selling works also include comics, non-fiction and TV and movie scripts. We’re looking forward to talking to him in August, and I know you are, too.
Stay tuned for more announcements!
Join us over dinner as we discuss “Lady of Devices” by Shelley Adina. You can buy a copy via our Amazon Affiliates store located here (http://tinyurl.com/ICONBookClub) – there is a Kindle version of the book too! Details are on the event page.
Hey, LI-CON fans!
While we try to nail down a location and time for LI-CON 2, we’d love for you to come to the ICON Book Club. ICON is the company sponsors LI-CON (and other events), and we recently opened a book discussion group that meets about 9 times a year. If you’ve ever been curious about the gang of nutballs who run these conventions, this is your chance to come meet us and also maybe have some appetizers, and an interesting conversation.
The club will meet next on August 13 and discuss Everything’s Better With Monkeys by LI-CON guest and local favorite CJ Henderson. Buy a copy through our Amazon store before the meeting–you pay the same price, and ICON gets a percentage to help us fund our events!
If you’re going to attend, please email Sara, head of the Book Club, as email@example.com, so we can have the right number of handouts and stuff ready, and of course so we can tell you where we’ll be meeting.
See you there, I hope.
Award-winning writer of both fiction and non-fiction, TV and radio personality, and Fordham professor Paul Levinson has agreed to appear at LI-CON.
Oh, and we’re hoping that Paul will also perform some of his music. Did we mention he’s also a musician?
Writer, editor, and game designer Alex Shvartsman will be speaking at LI-CON.
Writer and physician Anatoly Belilovsky will be appearing at LI-CON. Anatoly will bring us both his fiction-writing and medico-scientific expertise.
